RIP. Mark Linkous. I only met him when we shot these photos but some of his music played a big part of my time on canal street. Dill and I used to listen to this song on repeat and skate around the apartment on our backs.

BANNED BY THE BBC

Straight off the plane with zero sleep we started shooting.

When we were done, Jack had to go to the BBC to be on some weird comedy talk show. After the first hour of bad jokes and no end in site I decided to explore the building.

I don’t know if the BBC sends its security staff home early on tuesdays or maybe they just don’t have one because I had no problem walking through pretty much every show hosted in the building. Mick Fleetwood is a tall dude.

Stage #1: I ran into Will who I hadn’t seen since we started our Rock Band side project back in Venice. Its crazy how small the world can feel some days.

He was here with Jonny and his band playing on the Jools Holland show. His dressing room had sushi Jack’s had prepackaged cookies and 1 chair.

Set ups.

Back in the halls British television.

Not once was I asked what I was doing here…

Glen Campbell played and british people were way excited.

Felix was also playing on the show that night!

3 bros, 2 bands, 1 show.

Felix’s band had the coolest costumes of the night.

My friend Michael Enzinger is in a band. They are taking a break so Mikey is gonna kill some time by going to Harvard. Before he left for school he composed END.> VACUUM and then held a concert at Royce Hall with a 60 piece orchestra. Mikey is a doer. The photos bellow are from the two days of practice as well as the concert.

I forgot to mention that I met this guy last week while I was in Texas…

Mr. Kerry King was much nicer than expected. I was hoping he would tell me to fuck off when I asked to shoot some photos and then have one of his bro’s kick my ass.

Working for Slayer has some major benefits.

Life continues to stay exciting and I’m thankful.

I went to Dallas Texas last weekend for Ozfest… Its safe to say that Texas was the best location in America to host this one day event. I think out of any concert or festival I have ever attended Ozfest always delivers the best photos.

DISAPPOINTING GIFTS FROM FRIENDS

Blake Mills has become one of my favorites. I met Blake when he was much younger, 16 or 17 I think. In the beginning I didn’t like him that much. He was really talented but very defensive and my abrasive personality may have added to our tension…

Over the years that tension dissolved and Blake transformed from a kid I had to deal with to a guy I considered my friend.

Blake plays the guitar really well. Lots of people want him to play in their bands so they fly him all over the place to play guitar.

Blake also makes his own music which I like much more than most of the bands he’s hired to play with.

He played a solo show last week. He had never played with his band before so it was really entertaining to watch them all communicate on stage. I was inspired.

Hopefully the future will bring some collaborations…

Blake is now back on tour with Band of Horses so if you live somewhere they are going…

Los Angeles continued to hold onto its awesomeness all throughout the weekend.

Friday I finally made it to the Getty Center. No Age played in the courtyard.

The 405 at 3pm already sucking.

Arlie was the man behind some how convincing the Getty that it would be a good idea for No Age to play.

The paintings were cool but I much preferred watching other people look at them.

No Age bringing it to the kids and bumming out the old people. The circle of life continues.

I shot these polaroids of the MAKE-UP at the very last show that the Jabberjaw ever had. It was a very sad day for a lot of kids with pegged pants and beatle boots. I think it was 97 or 98. I did a lot of growing up at this place… I had my first real conversation with a crack head out front when I was 14 or 15 and drank my first 40oz while trying to convince the prettiest girl from Whittier that she should make out with me. It didn’t happen that night but I did throw up in her car.
