I went to Joshua tree with the girl from perth back in January. This has to be my 3rd or 4th post about this place but do desert photos with pretty girls ever get old? usually i would add some sort of commentary about the girl in the photos but she hates blogs and would kill me if i got too sentimental.

About 6 months ago I was on Fairfax when this kid comes up to me telling me that he was a rapper and that I should make him a custom pink fucking awesome hoody. When I asked him why he tells me he’s going to be on the cover of XXL someday soon.

I write him off as just another skate kid trying to get some free gear, tell him good luck and to twitter me knowing I would never follow up. Not 3 weeks later someone sends me a link to a video for Tyler the Creator and besides being really good, dark and entirely fucked up he’s wearing fucking awesome in it. Oh Shit! I can’t believe this kid is actually good… Cut to 6 months later and everyone from Kanye to Justin Beiber is in love with OFWGKTA. So cool to watch them blow up more everyday.

Almost 2 years after the last site launched today we see the birth of mikepiscitelli.com 3.0. Thanks to all that helped especially Todd @ Hollow Trees for building it and Tracey for putting up with me while we edited it.

This is my father. For his birthday we raced really fast cars, an Audi R8, a Lambo and a Ferrari. Pushing a LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO into and unintentional 360 was really fun, thanks pop.

Last month I was lucky enough to spend a week in Wilmington North Carolina shooting the greatest dude on Television, Danny McBride as Kenny Fucking Powers for the new K-SWISS campaign. It was a really fun job and this is just a fraction of the stuff we shot. Thank you Matt Murphy and everyone at 72andSunny .

Fellow S.S. FRIENDSHIP member Anthony Anzalone played with his band Mikki Maus at the closing of the TV Books show. They were really good which made the night even better.

My childhood revisited…

Blake from Jawbreaker has a new band, Thorns of Life.

A majority of my childhood memories have Jawbreaker as the soundtrack so this was a big show for me nostalgia-wise.

I guess this was the high school reunion I never had. I’d say that 70% of the crowd were the same “kids” I would see at shows 15 years ago… I’ve aged well.

I met Will Oldham while he was in LA a few years ago. Will is pretty much my favorite musician so it took a lot for me to not completely fan out and cry to the dude about how much I loved him. Somehow I made it through the encounter without embarrassing myself and was able to bring up that I would love to do a video for him… Almost a year later I got a call letting me know that he had finished a new record with Matt Sweeney called Superwolf and that they needed a video. He even let me pick which song off the record I had the best idea for.

We shot this video in and around Hollywood in a single day. The band didn’t want to be in the video so I cast an unsigned rapper named BLACK MAGIC. We worked on his performance for a few days before the shoot since we were stealing all the locations and would only have one or two takes at each spot. He did such a great job with his performance that most of the crew actually thought it was his song. My hopes for this video were that if someone was channel surfing on mute they might think it was a 90′s rap video. The Bronx had just been signed to Island records when we made this video and when I delivered it they were not happy…

HAPPY NEW YEAR people. Over the holidays I took almost 2 weeks off from editing which afforded me time to get the rest of my life in order.

First off was trying to catch up with Alexi on the awesome gift front.

I wont go into all the details but I will share the greatest painting I have ever painted… I think I’m going to only paint self portraits from now on.

I know its not a contest but I think I might be winning.

Finished this guy too.

PJ graced Los Angeles with his awesome charm and wit just long enough to not blow it and somehow trick my girlfriend into thinking I’m “mean” to him…
