Spent a week in Kingston Jamaica having the most fun on a shoot I have ever had. Pretty sure it’s the first ad campaign to have a shoot day on an illegal weed plantation… I can’t wait till I can share the ads but until then, here are some snaps from the trip.

Kingston can be a little sketchy, luckily we had Billy Wilmot to keep us out of trouble. Besides playing “CC” for the last 16 years on the longest running soap opera in Jamaica, Billy is a local surf legend and the lead singer of The Mystic Revealers…

I skipped lunch.

The city is stuffed with the best locations.

Rockers International was another dream Location. It was started by Augustus Pablo to go along with the record label. Augustus produced “King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown” if you didn’t bother to click the link to learn more. The place is a landmark.

The art of hand painted signage is still in full effect.

FOTORELIEF is organizing a silent photo auction event “A Picture Saves a Thousand Lives” on Thursday, March 18th, at Milk Gallery in New York City to help raise funds for the Haitian earthquake relief effort through ROSE Charities. Over 100 of the world’s most respected fashion and fine art photographers are each donating a photograph to be exhibited and auctioned off that evening, with the opening bids ranging from $300 to $10,000. Contributing photographers include: Steven Klein, Mario Sorrenti, Tierney Gearon, David Sims, Kurt Markus, Ellen Von Unwerth, Allessandra Sanguinetti, Javier Vallhonrat, Mitch Epstein, Mark Seliger, Terry Richardson and many more including some guy mike piscitelli… All of the proceeds from the auction will go to ROSE Charities, to provide long-term care and rehabilitation for the survivors of the Haitian earthquake. In addition, a numbered, limited-edition book of all of the photographs from the auction, will be available at the event with all proceeds going to the effort.

here lies the final page of my new journal/portfolios. after 3 months of countless mistakes, 36 exacto blades, 534 prints, 3 bottles of sumi ink, 4 cans of flat black spray paint, 412 pages cut and folded, 8 covers upholstered, 12 cans of spray glue, 6 hours of sewing and pretty much destroying my office i can finally say I’m finished. if you would like to see one, contact Tracey Quigley (west coast) or Sherry Riad (east coast)

Fellow S.S. FRIENDSHIP member Anthony Anzalone played with his band Mikki Maus at the closing of the TV Books show. They were really good which made the night even better.

My childhood revisited…

Blake from Jawbreaker has a new band, Thorns of Life.

A majority of my childhood memories have Jawbreaker as the soundtrack so this was a big show for me nostalgia-wise.

I guess this was the high school reunion I never had. I’d say that 70% of the crowd were the same “kids” I would see at shows 15 years ago… I’ve aged well.

LIGHT ON THE SIDEWALK

Just finished up the second zine from my light on the sidewalk portraits. As the name suggests, the zine consists of portraits I shot on the sidewalk. Number two was shot at the TV Books opening last month and will be available just in time for the TV books closing party this Friday. HAPPY NEW YEAR people. Over the holidays I took almost 2 weeks off from editing which afforded me time to get the rest of my life in order.

First off was trying to catch up with Alexi on the awesome gift front.

I wont go into all the details but I will share the greatest painting I have ever painted… I think I’m going to only paint self portraits from now on.

I know its not a contest but I think I might be winning.

Finished this guy too.

PJ graced Los Angeles with his awesome charm and wit just long enough to not blow it and somehow trick my girlfriend into thinking I’m “mean” to him…

I wonder what they’re saying?
