Blake Mills has become one of my favorites. I met Blake when he was much younger, 16 or 17 I think. In the beginning I didn’t like him that much. He was really talented but very defensive and my abrasive personality may have added to our tension…

Over the years that tension dissolved and Blake transformed from a kid I had to deal with to a guy I considered my friend. 

Blake plays the guitar really well. Lots of people want him to play in their bands so they fly him all over the place to play guitar. 

Blake also makes his own music which I like much more than most of the bands he’s hired to play with. 

He played a solo show last week. He had never played with his band before so it was really entertaining to watch them all communicate on stage. I was inspired.

Hopefully the future will bring some collaborations…
