DAD DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR GIRL IS

July 23rd, 2008 · DARKNESS, PHOTO, SKATE, awesomeness

The photos of Dill are a few years old but I thought they really tied the post together. I don’t remember what her name was but she was way psyched on her new tattoo and wanted me to shoot a photo. The kids today are really stepping it up.

Charlie is an amazing man. I can not find the words at this moment to fairly explain why Charlie is such an amazing dude so you’re going to have to trust me.

WAY MORE THAN A DECADE OF DESTRUCTION

July 20th, 2008 · NYC, PHOTO

These photos are from an Alien Workshop tour in 99 or 2000. I had hung out with freddy a bit in the city but it wasn’t until this tour did I realize just how amazing he is on and off his skateboard. Freddy taught me that in New Jersey you’re not drunk until you blackout. I have no recollection of when or where this first photo was taken…

I FORGOT THAT WE BOTH WOULD GET OLDER

July 9th, 2008 · PHOTO

I met Jana in New York when she was 16 or 17.  She had only been in the city a couple weeks and had already been lured away from the safety of her models apartment by a Haitian club promoter named Kiki.

GENERATION KILLED

July 3rd, 2008 · NYC, PHOTO

When I first moved to NYC I would see this skinny indie rock kid backstage at fashion shows taking paparazzi photos. I was young and a bit threatened that someone I might know in the real world had also figured out a way to con people into thinking he belonged there. Its kind of funny that before I had even met this guy I already hated him and that feeling would have a reoccurring role in our almost 10 year friendship. Ladies and Gentleman may I introduce you all to the almost famous James “Mr Nervous” Ransone.

WATER MAN, SEAMAN OR DAN

June 27th, 2008 · PHOTO

At about 11 last night I found this guy at my front door. Dan had just come from a screening of a new movie he’s in with Mr. Larry Hamilton. I can’t remember if the movie was called THE WATER MAN or THE SEAMAN… Either way its pretty crazy that Dan gets invited on trips with BIG WAVE celebrities yet he drives around looking for friends houses with the lights on because he doesn’t have a cellphone.

AT THE DARK END OF THE STREET

June 26th, 2008 · PHOTO

I found this roll of film the other day in a pair of shoes that I was throwing away. Most of the photos were from a location scout that had to be at least 3 years ago. For all the bad shit that is said about LA its still really fun to shoot in. From the city to suburbia.

A YEAR IN BAD PHOTOS

June 24th, 2008 · PHOTO

When I plugged my phone into the computer to update my contacts I learned that I had 1159 photos on there. I have edited it down to 40 from the 300 I looked at before getting really bored… The phone doesn’t save them by date so I think its a pretty good representation of the last 14 months.

CAN I BORROW A MILLION DOLLARS

June 22nd, 2008 · PHOTO

I’ve kept a low profile the last few days to avoid the first week of summer crowds and to fall back in love with listening to 90’s hardcore records while making stuff with my hands. Saggy sent me this text today… “I’m so stoked we’re working on resisting the siren song of the surf” There is swell in the sea yet I’m happier being in my dungeon making stuff. Learning how to love again has left me with not much to post on here so I leave you with some photos from a shoot I did earlier this week at John Paul DeJoria’s little house. Yeah. The dude from the PAUL MITCHELL SALONS and DON’T MESS THE WITH ZOHAN.

LESSONS IN ADVERTISING

June 18th, 2008 · ART DAMAGE, awesomeness

Bellow is the third attempt in 9 years that FUCKING AWESOME has made an ad. The second was turned in by Jason last week but was quickly turned down by the powers that be. Since my parents frequent this site I have decided to not to include Jason’s version… Please leave a comment letting us know what you think of the new ad so we can pass it on to the marketing department.

PICTURES FROM MY YOUTH

June 17th, 2008 · PHOTO

I’m pretty sure that these photos are from May or June 2001. Me, Dill and Ty left the city to go skate with Gino and Keenan out in Long Island. I can’t believe that these photos are 7 years old. This was the last day I spent with Keenan. He passed away not long after these photos were taken.

IF YOU COULD SEE MY DREAMS YOU WOULDN’T SLEEP

June 16th, 2008 · Uncategorized

Over the years many have referred to me as not the friendliest of people on first encounter. I have also had more than a few lady friends frantically wake me in the middle of the night because I sounded as though I was trying to kill myself. I’m not going to pretend that there isn’t a part of me that didn’t enjoy the view of a crying girl desperately trying to bring me back to life. Like most things, after awhile it just gets annoying… [Read more →]

THE END OF DAYS

June 13th, 2008 · MUSIC, PHOTO, TEENAGE

I shot these polaroids of the MAKE-UP at the very last show that the Jabberjaw ever had. It was a very sad day for a lot of kids with pegged pants and beatle boots. I think it was 97 or 98. I did a lot of growing up at this place… I had my first real conversation with a crack head out front when I was 14 or 15 and drank my first 40oz while trying to convince the prettiest girl from Whittier that she should make out with me. It didn’t happen that night but I did throw up in her car.

HAD YOU CONFESSED EARLIER

June 11th, 2008 · ART DAMAGE, PHOTO

This morning I went down to San Diego to shoot author John Perkins. The polaroid film expired in 2001 which I think is why it has such an awesome tone. John ended up being a really nice dude and I highly recommend checking out his book “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man”. [Read more →]
